Up-cycling an Old Painting into a New One!

Have you ever had a sudden urge to repaint a painting? Well I felt something like that recently, when I was bored and had nothing to do (because there was no internet). I saw an old painting hanging in my mom’s room. It was given to her by my aunt as a gift which is very sweet of her. This painting had a really nice frame but the painting itself was very lazy and poorly drawn. This made me think that I should paint over it. So here’s the process of how I up-cycled a painting. Materials that I used: 1.     An old painting with frame 2.     Paints I used acrylic paints by Sakura and Marie because these are the brands which are very accessible to me. Watercolor Basics for Absolute Beginners

I’m not gonna lie but watercolor is one of those mediums that are easier to use but hard to master. I remember when I first time tried watercolors, it was for a painting competition. And yes, it was a total disaster. Since then I hated this awful medium. But a while ago I bought a really good but economical set of watercolors and I realized it’s not that bad. I suppose we just misunderstood each other! When I started using watercolor I thought they will be similar to other painting medium like oil or acrylic (I’ve some experience with them). Oh boy I was wrong. Color mixing, layering and painting techniques were totally different.
